Pick the subject, level and paper. The official duration from the subject guide fills in; adjust it if your mock is shorter, or choose Custom for any other exam.
Press Display mode and project. The clock, the time remaining and the end time are sized to be read from the last row; the setup panel hides.
Start reading time (5 minutes by default). When it ends the screen tells you, and you start the examination.
At 30 and 5 minutes before the end a full-screen notice appears (with a soft chime if you turned it on), and again when time is up. Dismiss it with one click.
Mixed rooms: turn on the second group for SL and HL papers of different length, or for candidates with 25% or 50% extra time. Both groups start together and each shows its own end time, leaving window and warnings.
How long is each IB paper? Official durations by subject
Reading time (5 minutes) is not included. Durations come from the current IB subject guides; the last column says which guide version. Always confirm against your own guide and the examination schedule.

Questions teachers ask
Is the IB Exam Clock free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and stores nothing on a server. It is a free tool from IB Business Mastery for any IB subject.
How long is reading time in IB exams?
Five minutes for written papers. Candidates may read the paper but not write. The clock has a separate 5-minute reading timer you start before the exam timer; you can change the length if your paper differs.
What are the 30-minute and 5-minute warnings?
Invigilators announce the time left at 30 minutes and 5 minutes before the end. The clock shows a full-screen notice at both moments (and at the end), with an optional soft chime.
When can a candidate leave the examination room?
In IB written papers, candidates may not leave during the first hour or the last 15 minutes. For papers of 90 minutes or more the clock shows this leaving window and when it opens and closes.
Can I time two different papers in the same room?
Yes. Turn on the second group to run, for example, SL Paper 2 (1 h 30) and HL Paper 2 (1 h 45) side by side, or a group with 25% extra time. Each group has its own end time and warnings.
Does it keep running if the page reloads?
Yes. The session is saved in your browser, so a refresh or an accidental tab close does not lose the exam. The clock uses this computer's time; keep the device awake and plugged in.
Which IB paper durations does it know?
Business Management, Economics, both Mathematics courses, Language A (Literature, Language and Literature), Language B and ab initio, History, Geography, Global Politics, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and ESS, from the current subject guides, plus a custom option for anything else. Always confirm with your own subject guide and exam schedule.
